    Arizona Center for Youth – Adult Basic Education Program

    Arizona Center for Youth Resources (ACYR) Adult Basic Education program is dedicated to providing young adults ages 16 and older the resources to pass the GED® and thus receive their high school equivalency or achieve English proficiency.

    Friendly House – GED Classes

    The GED Program prepares students to take the GED examination to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma. Our Program offers integrated instruction in the five areas covered on the GED test: Reasoning through Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, Civics and Mathematical Reasoning. Students who register for classes must attend a three-day orientation session. Students will also be required to take a pre-assessment test prior to class. Requirements: AZ Identification card, AZ driver’s license, United States Passport, or Permanent Resident card. Students must be 16 years or older.     Literacy Volunteers

    If you meet the student requirements and you want to improve your reading, math, and writing skills to prepare for the GED, you must first attend a four hour orientation at our NEW Main Center located at 1616 East Indian School Road, Suite 200. Only the first 25 people to arrive will be allowed to attend. Orientation starts at exactly the time indicated. If you are late, or if the room is full you will not be able to attend. You must stay for the entire orientation. Only the person enrolling in the program is allowed to attend unless they have special physical needs. Children are not allowed in the building. Dates and times of orientations are subject to change. Please call to verify dates and times before attending. If you live closer to north Phoenix you can go to our new student orientation at our Lynn Reed Center at 729 East Hatcher Road in Sunnyslope. Space is limited. Only the first 15 people will be allowed to attend. If you are late or the room is full, you will not be able to attend. You need to be able to stay for the entire orientation. Only the person enrolling in the program is allowed to attend unless they have special physical needs. Children are not allowed in the building.

    Pima Community College – High School Equivalency (HSE) Preparation

    If you are planning to take the GED® test, PCC offers you classes that prepare you through in-depth reading, writing, social studies, science and math classes. HSE classes are also offered online with some in-person instruction required. PCC administers the GED® test on a regular basis.
