This Refugee 101 course is meant to give you a basic overview to the refugee resettlement process, data on current refugees coming to the US and Arizona, as well as several things to keep in mind when working with people from other cultures. Anyone is able to take this course!

If you are taking this 101 course to fulfill a requirement before volunteering with a partner organization, you will need to enroll in the class and create a WordPress account. Just click the “Enroll Now” button on the right-hand side to create that account. By creating an account and enrolling in the class, we can track your progress and can take the comprehension quizzes at the end of the the topics. This allows each organization know when their future volunteers have completed the training.

If you are taking this 101 course just to learn more about the resettlement process, you can click the first topic to continue! Be aware, if you don’t create a WordPress account and enroll in the class, you will not have access to the quizzes at the end of each topic. A question will be shown during each lesson and we suggest you think about what the answer is just to make sure you are really understanding the content.

In this section, you will learn different strategies and things to keep in mind while working or interacting with refugees. At the end of this section, if you must show a certificate of completion, you will take a basic comprehension quiz covering the lessons.

Refugee Stories?

In this section you will hear first hand from refugees in Arizona. They will talk about their journey to the U.S. and how the support they received helped them make a new home in the U.S.

How to Get Involved?

In this section, you will find videos about different organizations you can volunteer with to support refugees. Each of these organizations play a vital role in supporting refugees and making them feel at home in this new country.
